1

General

HealthHalo is a South African telemedicine and home-visit platform. We connect patients with HPCSA-registered doctors over video call or in person at your home, removing the barriers of distance, transport, cost, and time.
HealthHalo is run by two UCT-trained doctors with HPCSA registration. You can meet the team on our doctors page. Every doctor on the platform is fully HPCSA-registered.
Telemedicine consultations work nationwide across South Africa. Home visits are delivered in our designated service areas (currently Johannesburg and Pretoria metro), with coverage expanding as our doctor network grows.
Monday to Sunday, 06:00–18:00 SAST. Same-day slots are often available.

Booking

Visit healthhalo.co.za/book, choose your service (telemedicine, home visit, or follow-up), fill in your details and a short health questionnaire, pick an available slot, and pay via iKhokha or select Medical Aid. The whole booking takes under 2 minutes.
Same-day slots are often available. Booking notice is a minimum of 30 minutes — you can usually get a video consult within an hour and a home visit on the same or next day.
Yes. During the booking flow, you can specify that the patient is a minor or another adult. For minors, a guardian must be present at the consultation.
Yes — once you've paid (or your medical aid is verified), you'll receive a confirmation by email and/or WhatsApp, depending on your preference. The confirmation includes your booking reference, the appointment time, the doctor's name, and the Google Meet link (for video calls).

Consultations

After booking and payment, you'll receive a Google Meet link by email and WhatsApp. At your appointment time, click the link to join the video call. You need a smartphone or computer with a camera and microphone — nothing else to install.
An HPCSA-registered doctor travels to the address you provided and conducts a full physical examination. The doctor brings basic equipment (BP cuff, stethoscope, otoscope, thermometer, pulse oximeter) and can prescribe, refer, or issue documents on the spot.
Acute illness (flu, sore throat, UTI, gastro), chronic disease management (hypertension, diabetes, asthma), repeat prescriptions, sick notes, fit-for-work assessments, specialist referrals, and review of investigation results. See our services page for the full scope.
We don't handle medical emergencies, surgery, Schedule 5/6 medications, hospital admissions, or specialist consultations. For emergencies, call 10177 immediately.
If clinically appropriate, yes — both are issued digitally and signed by your doctor. They land in your patient portal at healthhalo.co.za/portal and are emailed to you.

Emergencies

No. HealthHalo is not an emergency service. If you have a medical emergency — chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, loss of consciousness, stroke symptoms, suspected heart attack — call 10177 immediately for an ambulance, or go to your nearest casualty department.
For a mental health emergency or suicidal thoughts, call SADAG's 24-hour helpline on 0800 567 567, or call 10177 if you need an ambulance.
