South Africa's healthcare system is under severe strain. Hospitals, GPs, and medical facilities are overwhelmed by demand, forcing doctors to prioritise speed over thoroughness — and patients to pay the price through rushed consultations, long waiting times, and fragmented care.

At the same time, a growing pool of highly skilled, unemployed doctors represents an untapped resource that the system has failed to deploy effectively. HealthHalo exists to solve both sides of this problem.

By bringing healthcare directly to the patient — at their doorstep or on their phone — we simultaneously reduce the burden on overstretched facilities and put qualified doctors back to work where they are needed most.

HealthHalo was founded by two UCT-trained doctors with hands-on experience across emergency medicine, anaesthesiology, surgery, OBS/GYN, and primary care. Every doctor on the platform is fully registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

HealthHalo operates digitally and nationwide across South Africa. Telemedicine consultations are available wherever you have a phone signal. Home visits are currently delivered across designated service areas, with coverage expanding as our doctor network grows.

In the short term, we're growing our doctor network and expanding home-visit coverage to more provinces. In the medium term, we're integrating with more medical aid schemes to make our services accessible to a broader population, including those in lower income brackets.

Long term, our vision is to become a meaningful part of relieving the pressure on South Africa's overburdened healthcare system — not by replacing it, but by complementing it. We want every South African, regardless of where they live or what they earn, to have a doctor they can rely on.
